As the first truly wintry week settles over Huddersfield, a simple booking process can make it easier to plan a regular activity and keep a little movement in our week.

With it getting dark by mid-afternoon and Remembrance events taking place around 8–11 November in Huddersfield and Kirklees town centre, many of us are thinking ahead about our routines and journeys. If you are considering a community activity, booking in advance can help you feel more prepared.

Here is how to book a session with New Direction Services CIC, step by step.

Step by step: how to book

1. Browse the booking app

Start at the New Direction Services booking app. Browse the activities and sessions currently listed. You can also explore our services, women’s activities and adult activities pages to learn more about the kinds of activities we offer.

The booking app is the place to check what is currently listed. If you cannot see a suitable session, contact us to ask about options or future dates rather than assuming a session is available.

2. Choose a session and check the details

When you find an activity that interests you, check the date, time, price and availability shown for that session. These details can change, and places may be limited. We cannot promise specific dates, prices, availability or free places, so please check the current information before making plans.

Some activities are designed for particular groups. For example, our women’s activities include kickboxing sessions at WomenCentre Huddersfield. Pay-weekly community club access may also be a budget-friendly option for some people; check the current arrangements and cost before booking.

If you are over 40, you are welcome to explore getting active. Sessions may be adapted to suit different abilities, but the options vary. If you have questions about a particular activity, contact us before you book.

3. Book at least 24 hours ahead

All sessions must be booked at least one full day (24 hours) before the lesson. This is a requirement, so please do not leave your booking until the last minute. A booking inside the 24-hour window may not be possible.

The time helps our team prepare, know who is expected and organise the session safely. It also helps us plan the space and resources for the people attending. Booking ahead supports a session that is better prepared and well-organised for everyone.

If you are hoping to attend soon, check the date and time carefully and make sure there is a full 24 hours between booking and the lesson.

4. Check your confirmation

After completing your booking, check the confirmation shown by the booking app and any confirmation message or email you receive. Make sure the activity and session details match what you selected, and keep the confirmation somewhere you can find it.

If you have not received or cannot find a confirmation, please contact us before travelling. Checking now can help avoid uncertainty later.

5. Plan your journey

Winter evenings in West Yorkshire can be dark and wet, so give yourself time to think about the journey there and back. Check the venue details and route before you leave. If helpful, consider familiar routes, allow extra time and plan how you will get home after the session.

Remembrance events around 8–11 November may also affect how busy parts of Huddersfield and Kirklees town centre feel. Check your route and local travel information on the day. These are practical reminders, not guarantees about conditions; choose the plan that feels right for you.

6. Contact us if you have questions or need to change plans

If you are unsure which activity to choose, have a question about the booking, or need to tell us that your plans have changed, please get in touch. Call 01484 218853. If you are asking about a session, it helps to have its name and date to hand.

Contacting us does not guarantee that a change or alternative place will be available, but we can explain the current options. For the latest session details, always check the booking app.

Find an activity that fits your week

Starting a routine does not have to mean making a big commitment. One session can be a manageable way to see whether an activity suits you. Our community sessions include fitness and other activities; you can browse the current options online and ask us any questions before you decide.

For people rebuilding routine after difficult experiences, a welcoming activity may offer an opportunity to move and connect with others. It is important to be clear: activity is not a replacement for specialist domestic abuse support or mental health treatment, and sessions do not fix abuse, trauma or mental health difficulties. Our HAF Holiday Clubs are separate from adult activities. They are for children during school holidays and have their own programme, dates and booking information. Check the holiday club page for current details.

A straightforward first step

Booking ahead can make it easier for us to prepare and for you to plan. Check the listing, confirm the details, leave at least 24 hours before the session, and ask us if anything is unclear.

If you would like to try an activity, we warmly invite you to book one session this week through the booking app, after checking the current price, date and availability. Let’s plan a winter routine in November so December is easier.
